Brent Washburne - Owner and Chief Consultant

Brent Washburne is the founder and owner of Iron Mountain Foundry, LLC. As a distinguished industry veteran with more than 20 years of software technology leadership experience, Brent is responsible for the strategic direction and overall management of the company.

Throughout his career, Brent has established a successful track record of pioneering Open Source Software and technologies for companies.

• Prior to starting Iron Mountain Foundry in 2001, Washburne co-founded ASK Research, LLC in 1997, a stock charting web site for individual investors, which he built single-handedly with Open Source Software. This e-commerce business regularly served over one million real-time stock charts per day using only $25,000 worth of hardware.
• Before that, he was Director of Software Development at INVESTools in 1995, where he designed and built one of the first e-commerce sites on the web using early Open Source languages, and this site is still successful today.
• Washburne also held management positions at Novellus Systems, Inc., managing real-time robotic software development, and Excite@Home, an early Internet search engine and broadband Internet access company.
• He was a speaker at the Internet World '94 Conference, and on the registry with the Library of Congress as an implementor of the early ANSI Z39.50 database access protocol.

Brent holds a BA in Computer Science from University of California, San Diego. He also holds a US Chess Federation rating of 1613 and placed in the top ten nationally for Masters Swimming.
