The Opera web browser deserves special mention. Even though it is not an Open Source software product, you can download a version for free. Like the Mozilla suite, it incorporates e-mail, contacts, chat and notes along with the standard browser functions into a compact package.
The software is available for Windows, Mac, Linux, FreeBSD, Solaris, OS/2 and QNX. It even runs on Smartphones/PDAs and interactive television. Opera prides itself in supporting all major Web standards currently in use, including CSS2, HTML4, XHTML1, HTTP1.1, DOM1, JavaScript, PNG, Unicode, and the Unicode Bidirectional Algorithm.
